The Golconda Fort, Hyderabad

The fort of Golconda in Hyderabad is now a dilipidated ruin, but still has a lot to offer to its curious visitors. Once upon a time it was the capital of the Kakatiyas and then the Bhrahmanis. The Golconda fort was considered impregnable but it was finally destroyed when the last great Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attacked it and some traitors in the fort helped him.

The fort is built at a great height and the acoustics of the fort are worth listening to for sure. Besides, the fort had its own supply of water and so it was believed that it could withhold a seige for long years if necessary.

This beautiful fort is one of the many marvels of the city of Hyderabad which is also home to the famous Charminar and the Mecca Masjid of Hyderabad.
